Mindful Way Through AnxietY

Anxiety doesn’t come about from thinking about the future,
but from wanting to control the future.

Mindful Way Through Anxiety - 6 week group program (with optional mini retreat)

For many, anxiety, worry, or fear are stumbling blocks that can be extraordinarily difficult to overcome. The problem is, you can’t just “get over” anxiety. In fact, the very things most people do to try to feel better—avoiding feared situations, pushing worry out of mind—only make the problem worse.

Anxiety is a sense of feeling stressed, worried, fearful, panicky, restless, escalated heartbeat, breathing difficulties, throat tightening, tingling in the hands/feet/extremities, sweating, or even a total meltdown/panic attack. Anxiety is the most common mental health issue in the world. Despite the pain associated with this issue, it is quite treatable through psychological strategies.

Drawing on two decades of research and clinical experience, Mindful Way Through Anxiety develops a powerful new alternative that can help you break free of anxiety by fundamentally changing how you relate to it. Based on the authors, Susan M Orsillo and Lizabeth Roemer, The Mindful Way Through Anxiety provides over 25 years of research on anxiety, anxiety disorders, and treatments

Participants will learn the biology of anxiety and proven strategies to conquer symptoms, change thoughts that precipitate anxiety and how to engage in more effective behavior.

How Mindfulness Calms Anxious Feelings:

  • Mindfulness helps you learn to stay with difficult feelings without analyzing, suppressing, or encouraging them. When you allow yourself to feel and acknowledge your worries, irritations, painful memories, and other difficult thoughts and emotions, this often helps them dissipate.

  • Mindfulness allows you to safely explore the underlying causes of your stress and worry. By going with what’s happening rather than expending energy fighting or turning away from it, you create the opportunity to gain insight into what’s driving your concerns.

  • Mindfulness helps you create space around your worries so they don’t consume you. When you begin to understand the underlying causes of your apprehension, freedom and a sense of spaciousness naturally emerge.
